Introduction to Leather Work Course
Westonbirt Woodworks Yard (Westonbirt Arboretum, South Gloucestershire)
This 1 day beginner’s course will equip you with the basic skills needed for creating simple yet robust, high quality leather products.
We’ll cover aspects of pattern making, cutting out, saddle stitch sewing with thread and two needles, rivet and fastener setting, dyeing and finishing.
Over the day we’ll focus on two projects – a veg tanned leather key loop and a chrome tanned leather card holder. This will allow us to explore the different properties and techniques applicable to different types of leather.
All necessary tools and materials are provided, along with a simple lunch.
Dates: Tuesday 6th or Saturday 17th September 2016
