Coppice Camp

Westonbirt Arboretum, South Gloucestershire

24th – 28th October 2016

 

A week’s coppicing tuition under the instruction of Brian Williamson and Fiona de Wert, working in an area of the Silk Wood coppice at Westonbirt Arboretum.

This hands-on course will give participants an in depth knowledge of hazel coppice management and restoration, as well as deer protection methods and plant restocking techniques. We’ll also cover aspects of traditional coppice craft, tool selection and species identification.

Basic camping facilities are provided near our wood yard in Tetbury, as well as all the tools needed (hand tools only, we won’t be chainsawing!)

 

Dates: 24th – 28th October 2016.

Cost: £225 (includes camping, but participants must provide their own food for the week)
